50 MW power plant at Bhairab
To fulfill the desire and commitment of President Zillur Rahman, the Power Division is going to set up a 50 MW power plant at Bhairab in Kishoreganj district.
The proposed furnace oil-fired power plant will be set up in private sector under a 15- year contract and the state-owned Power Development Board (PDB) will purchase electricity from the plant.
According to official sources, as per the directive of the President’ s Office, the Power Division already selected three responsive bidders and sent their proposals to the Cabinet Purchase Committee to award the contract to one of them.
The bidders are the Consortium of Aitken Spence Plc & Alliance Holdings Ltd; the Consortium of Confidence Cement Ltd & Energypac Power Generation Ltd; and the Consortium of Barkatullah Electro Dynamics Ltd & STFE Co. Ltd.
Power Division officials hope they would receive the approval of the Cabinet Purchase body to their proposal that would finally lead the way to sign a contract. —UNB
