Bumper T-Aman yield expected in Nilphamari
NILPHAMARI, Nov 13: A bumper production of Transplanted Aman is expected in Nilphamari district in this year. Sources said absence of flood, drought and timely plantation helped in this regard. No scarcity of seed, diesel and fertiliser and overall climate was also favourable.
There was drought like situation for some days in the Bengali month of Bhadra which was supposed to hinder production particularly in the highlands and also in the delayed planted croplands but sufficient rain that followed helped to overcome the situation.
Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) sources said this year’s Transplanted Aman cultivation target was in 1,09,033 hectares of land out of which Upshi in 1,07,327 hectares and local in 1706 hectares and the total production target of both the varieties was 2,94,632 metric tonnes.
