100 MW Zuldha Station likely to go into operation in December
CHITTAGONG, Nov 12 (BSS) – Zuldha Power Station with a capacity of 100 megawatts is expected to go into operation in December.
Officials of Power Development Board said the additional generation would improve the power situation in Chittagong.
Local firm Ekran Infrastructure Services Limited in technical assistance with German company Cutter Filler has already built infrastructure and installed machinery on 20 acres of land at Dangarchar beside the Karnaphuli river.
Project director of Zuldha Power Station Sunil Kanti Das said 90 percent work of the project has been completed. “We are hopeful of going into generation by December 15 this year,” he said.
The official said the power station would be operated by furnace oil. But there is an option of turning it into a gas- fired station.
PDB will buy power from the station at Taka 7.76 per kilowatt hour.
