Bumper Aman production in Netrakona likely
NETRAKONA, Oct 11 (BSS) – Bumper production of transplanted Aman paddy is expected in the district this season as target in cultivation of the paddy has already been exceeded.
District Agriculture Extension Department (DAE) office sources said, a total of 1,36,320 hectares of land to be brought under T-Aman cultivation in ten upazilas of the district.
Earlier, it was a target of cultivating the paddy on 1,30,956 hectares of land with a plan to produce over three lakh tonnes of Aman rice.
T-Aman production may cross the target if climate remains favorable and supply of necessary quantity of seeds, fertilizers, agricultural loan, and other agricultural inputs are ensured to the farmers, the sources said.
Crops specialists and field workers of the DAE have been rendering field-level service to farmers about modern methods of Aman cultivation. They are emphasizing on getting maximum yields from their farmlands using latest agri-technology, agriculture official Abdul Maleque told BSS.
About 460 demonstration plots of T-Aman paddy have been setup on 186 hectares of land in the district. The demonstration plots were setup with complete allocation from the government, he added.
