Bangladesh Expo 2011 in London

Dhaka, May 25: A two-day Bangladesh Expo 2011 will start from September 24 in London to project Bangladesh internationally and enhance trade and investment relationships between Bangladesh and the UK. UK-based Bangladesh Exposition Ltd is holding the exhibition at The Water Lily of East London, while Triune Exhibition and Event Management Services (TEEMS) and Delta Bay from Bangladesh are marketing partners.

Painted Children, an UK-based NGO, is working as the charity partner, while ATN Bangla is the media partner of the event. There will be 81 stalls and six pavilions in the fair, which is expected to attract 50,000 visitors in two days.

This biggest Bangladeshi exhibition in Europe will exhibit the life, culture and heritage of Bangladesh, providing an insight into the lives of Bangladeshis through live demonstrations of jamdani saree production and works of kamar and kumar.

The organisers held a press conference yesterday at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel, where Nazinur Rahim, director of Bangladesh Exposition Ltd, Kazi Wahidul Alam, managing director of TEEMS, and Mahtab Sohel, chief executive officer of Delta Bay spoke.

This will be a golden opportunity for manufacturers and entrepreneurs from Bangladesh to showcase their products and expand their markets in UK and worldwide, the organisers hoped.

Some focus sectors of the exhibition are: real estate, garments, textiles, remittance/capital market/bank/finance, designer houses, agriculture, telecommunication and call centres, NGOs/micro credit groups, tourism and hospitality, artisan and handicraft, leather, ceramics, frozen foods and private hospital/university/medical colleges.
