BOI marks 24.37pc investment rise
DHAKA, Apr 20: The country witnessed 24.37 per cent increase in local investment in March compared to February. During the same period, joint and foreign investments decreased by 90.97 per cent, a press release of Board of Investment (BOI) said. During March, 205 industries were registered with the BOI, of which 183 were local, nine 100 per cent foreign-owned industrial units and 13 were joint ventures.
Under the registered industries, it said, proposed investment was Taka 6,610.51 crore, which was Taka 4,238.15 crore less than the previous month.
The total investment in the last three months (January- March) of the current year increased by 128.32 per cent compared to the same period of the previous year.
The investment proposals came during the first three months including 44 per cent for service sector, 17 per cent for agriculture sector, 10 per cent for engineering sector and six per cent for other sectors, the BOI release said.
